Annual Club Dinner & Presentation Evening

This year’s Club Dinner and Presentation Evening is being held at the B2NET Stadium on Saturday 29th October 2011 starting at 7.00pm for 7.30pm, the cost will be £27.00 per person. This is a really good venue, with a very pleasant atmosphere. I hope a lot of you are able and willing to attend this year’s event to support your Captain and Club and, if you’ve been lucky enough to win something – collect your prize(s).

Course News

On Tuesday 9th August a thorough inspection of the course was carried out by the Derbyshire Union of Golf Clubs (DUGC) to determine whether our Standard Scratch (SS) currently 68 against a Par of 69, was correct. We were subsequently notified that in fact the SS for the course should be 69 (the same as the par for the course).

It is with great sadness that I have to report the death (on Saturday 30th July) of Bill Tyzack, Bill had been a member of Stanedge for over 30 years, he was a past Captain of the Club and he was the Hon Secretary of Stanedge for many years until ill health forced him to hand over the secretarial reigns - quite simply Bill was Mr Stanedge!

Two of the club’s ‘highlight’ competitions – Ladies Captain’s Weekend and Captain’s Weekend were held in June, the former on the 11th & 12th and the latter on the 25th & 26th, both competitions were very well supported by members and both our Ladies Captain Chris Norcliffe and our Captain Jim Carter had weekends to remember. Dear Members,

As we’ve moved through May and in to June the golfing season is now in full swing and we’re getting to some of the club’s bigger competitions, the first of which was the Gent’s Invitation on 21st & 22nd May. This, as I’m sure those who competed will remember, was played in high winds on the Saturday, which turned to near gale force on the Sunday.
