For those of you unfamiliar with how a course such as Stanedge (with only 10 different holes) needs to operate, in order for players starting their round to be able to integrate smoothly in to play. Here’s what you are expected to do:
If you are waiting on the 1st tee and players are already putting out on the 9th green, the people on the 9th green have ‘priority’ (the rights of the course) and should be allowed to putt out on the 9th green and then continue their round by playing the 10th hole before you play the 1st hole.
However, once you’ve allowed one group to putt out on the 9th green and tee off on the 10th, you then assume ‘priority’ (the rights of the course) over any subsequent group arriving at the 9th green. This is because they weren’t on the 9th green before you were waiting on the 1st tee. Consequently, they should stand aside and wait for you to tee off on the 1st hole before they putt out on the 9th green. They should then fit in behind you, assuming ‘priority’ (the rights of the course) over any second group waiting on the 1st tee.
Effectively, those starting their round on the 1st tee should alternate with those already on the course and in the middle of their round. This procedure has been in place at Stanedge for many years and if it is operated sensibly it doesn’t pose any problems.
For safety’s sake, if you’re on the 1st tee and have priority over those on the 9th green. Please do not play over the heads of those on the 9th green, simply wait a few seconds to allow them to step safely to the side of the green before you begin your round of golf.
Dress Code
Like the vast majority of Golf Clubs Stanedge has a standard dress code for those using the course, which members and visitors alike are asked to adhere to! Traditional golfing attire should be worn at all times e.g. a golf shirt or polo shirt, tucked into tailored trousers or tailored shorts and golf shoes.
Items such as jeans; jogging pants; vest tops; cap sleeved tee shirts; football shirts; rugby shirts; sports shorts; camouflage shorts; beach style shorts; football socks etc must not be worn on the golf course.
Please see the notice in the Gent’s outer locker room for more information.
Protecting the Course
As Stanedge is a 10 hole golf course, it gets a lot of ‘traffic’ with people walking across the same strips of grass and consequently wearing the grass away. Please help to protect our course by keeping to the designated course footpaths whenever possible.
Thank you, your co-operation is very much appreciated - please enjoy your round!
