Hello – welcome to the Ladies Section page of the Stanedge Golf Club website.
I’m Chris Norcliffe, I’ve been a member of Stanedge Golf Club for 17 years – and I’m proud to say I am the Ladies Captain for the 2011/12 Season.
We are a small but extremely busy section of the Club and play all our main competitions over a Saturday and Sunday with the occasional midweek competition on a Wednesday. Our ladies can either make up their own 2,3 or 4 ball for competitions throughout Saturday or Sunday, or there is the opportunity to join a group who meet at 9am on a Sunday morning, for those who just want to ‘turn up’. We also meet at 9am on a Wednesday for a 9 or 18 hole ‘fun’ competition. New Members are always welcomed into our Section and with no joining fee at the moment - it’s a good time to join.
We have for many years paid the same annual fees as our men, so we do not have equality issues at Stanedge - we simply have to respect everyone.
Stanedge is not a hilly course although it is situated 1,000 feet above sea level and on the top of a hill, but with gentle undulations and inclines, the course is not too taxing. The course is 5,309 yards long with a Par of 71 and it has amazing views. The course itself is a little gem and is one of the best kept secrets in Derbyshire! Stanedge is a 10 hole moorland course, which is not to be taken lightly – you must think your way round and once you get to know it – you will love it to bits.
If you would like to play the course with a group of friends, that’s easy, telephone in advance to make sure there are no prior commitments, then turn up and follow the instructions in the outer locker room (Gents side) the ‘honesty box’ is in the wall outside. Green Fee is £15.
If you would like to play the course with a Member, just give me a ring, I will do my very best to fix you up with one of our ladies.
If you are new to golf – then Stanedge is an excellent club at which to start this crazy life! We love it - you will too!
Best wishes to all, for a very happy and successful 2011/12 Season.
